Hand turned from English oak wood from a tree located in Ottery St Mary, this vessel features a charred live edge and sculptural form, with waxed cotton thread stitched repairs. Considered as one of the finest woods to work with, oak is extremly strong and durable, and boasts an attractive grain. Finished with an ancient Japanese technique called Yakisugi on both the interior and exterior, which involves using a 2000 degree flame to cause instant charring on the surface of the wood, before it is removed with an abrasive to reveal the grain hidden underneath.

Finished with tung oil to enhance the beauty of the wood. Please refer to the ‘Product Care’ section located at the top of the page or on the homepage if you have any concerns about tung oil and nut allergies.

This bowl measures 20cm wide, 18cm tall and 12cm deep.

Reccomended as display use only.
